Wait times
Why our wait times got long, and what we did about it.
If you've read reviews about long waits, they're real, and we want you to hear the story from us.
When orders picked up after our move, the outside body shops that painted our parts fell behind, and our customers paid for it in wait time. That was on us to fix, so we brought painting in-house.
- 2024
We spent eight months building our new facility in Valley Center, Kansas.
- November 2024
We moved in. We were careful about how much inventory we moved, then started restocking parts once we were settled.
- After the move
For years, our painting was done by three local body shops. They got backlogged with their own collision work, and our parts sat waiting for paint for months.
- March 2026
We decided to stop waiting on others and started learning to paint in-house, testing the process in a temporary inflatable paint booth.
- A few months later
We invested $200,000 in a full paint booth inside our shop, so our parts are now painted here, under our own roof.
- Today
We're working through the backlog with the right people on staff, and our new hires are being trained to do things our way.
Where things stand today
Our estimated lead time is still 10–16 weeks for most custom-painted products. Catching up doesn't happen overnight, but with painting now done in our own shop, our goal is to be in a much better position over the next 4–6 months. We'll update this page as lead times improve.

The people behind MWCustoms
Built by real people. Backed by years of experience.
MWCustoms Inc. is a family-owned business run by Blair and Alexis. Our paint and assembly facility is in Valley Center, Kansas, and that's where your order is built, checked, packed and shipped.
Blair works hands-on in the paint booth and on the shop floor. Alexis runs the business side, from HR and bookkeeping to taking care of the crew. The team is made up of truck people, and the shop standard is simple: if it wouldn't go on our truck, it doesn't ship.
What we source and what we do in-house
- Sourced: base headlight and taillight assemblies, mirrors, grilles and emblems come from OEM and aftermarket suppliers. Some products, like bulbs and lighting kits, are sold as made by their manufacturer.
- Done here: disassembly, surface prep, masking, paint and clear coat (Sherwin-Williams Automotive Ultra BC8 and CC200 clear in our GFS Ultra XS booth), reassembly, sealing, inspection, packing and shipping.

Our production process
Custom work takes real work.
Not every product goes through every step. A painted emblem is simpler than a full headlight build. But this is how a typical custom-painted part moves through our shop.

Order review & sourcing
We check your truck, options and paint code, then source the base parts from our suppliers.
Disassembly
Headlights and taillights are opened up so the right surfaces can be painted. Not every part needs this.
Surface prep & sanding
Surfaces are cleaned and sanded so paint bonds properly.
Masking & detail work
Lenses, reflectors and edges are masked by hand.
Paint
Sherwin-Williams Automotive Ultra BC8 basecoat and CC200 clear, sprayed in our GFS Ultra XS booth.
Curing
Paint and clear need time to cure fully before parts can be handled and assembled.
Reassembly & sealing
Parts are put back together and sealed where applicable.
Quality inspection
Finish, fit and, where applicable, lighting function are checked before packing.
Packing & shipping
Parts are packed for protection and shipped with the service you chose at checkout.
Estimated lead time: 10–16 weeks
That's our current standard estimate for most custom-painted products, and each product page shows its own estimate before you buy. It is an estimate, not a guaranteed ship date: supplier delays, curing time and rework can add time. The shipping speed you pick at checkout starts after your part is finished. Quality control & warranty
Quality doesn't happen by accident.
How we check work before it ships, and exactly what our written warranty does and doesn't cover.
How we check it
- Surfaces are inspected after prep, before any paint goes on.
- Color and finish are checked after the clear coat cures.
- Assemblies are reassembled and sealed, then inspected for fit.
- Lights are powered on and tested where applicable.
- Parts are packed to protect the finish in transit.
If something's wrong
Email support@mwcustoms.net with your order number and clear photos, or start a warranty claim. Claims are inspected and approved by MWCustoms.
Our warranty, in plain English
Covered on products and services performed or installed by MWCustoms: moisture leaks, paint defects, and failure of components installed by MWCustoms.
Not covered: LED failures on customer-supplied products, normal wear and tear, damage from improper installation, accidents, abuse or neglect, third-party or DIY modifications, components not installed or serviced by MWCustoms (the original manufacturer's warranty may apply), and labor or shop charges for removal and reinstallation.
Shipping: you ship the part to us for evaluation (we don't provide return labels). If the claim is approved, we pay to ship it back. The warranty is non-transferable and a signed claim agreement is required.
Straight answers
Questions customers ask us.
Is MWCustoms a legitimate company?
Yes. MWCustoms Inc. is a family-owned business run by Blair and Alexis, based in our own 10,000 sq ft paint and assembly facility in Valley Center, Kansas. We've been selling online since 2015 and have shipped more than 19,000 orders. Every custom part is painted, assembled and inspected in-house and backed by our written warranty. Call us at (316) 925-7145, email sales@mwcustoms.net, or read real customer reviews right here on this page.
Should I buy from MWCustoms?
It depends on what matters most to you.
We're a good fit if you want parts painted to your truck's factory color code with real automotive paint (Sherwin-Williams Automotive Ultra BC8 base and CC200 clear, sprayed in our GFS Ultra XS booth) and you're willing to plan around a made-to-order wait.
We're not the right shop if you need parts fast. Most custom-painted products take an estimated 10–16 weeks, and we'll be straight with you: some customers have waited longer than that, and some have told us our replies were slow during busy stretches. We'd rather you know that now than be frustrated later.
Before you order, confirm your paint code, trim level and factory lighting, and read our cancellation policy. Custom items aren't returnable, and cancellations after 24 hours are not refunded to your card. If timing matters, ask us for a current estimate first.
Where can I read MWCustoms customer reviews?
Right here. We wanted you to be able to read them without leaving this page. Our Google reviews load live from our Google Business Profile. Below them are reviews from the Shop app, where we're rated 4.5 stars from 200 reviews. Those are hand-picked by us and copied word-for-word, and we left in the ones that mention long waits.
If you want to see everything, including the critical reviews, you can read every review on Google.
Where are MWCustoms headlights and other products made?
Here's the straight answer. We don't manufacture headlight or taillight housings from raw materials. The base assemblies, mirrors, grilles and emblems come from OEM and aftermarket suppliers.
What we do is the custom work, and all of it happens in our Valley Center, Kansas shop: disassembly, surface prep, masking, paint and clear coat, curing, reassembly, sealing, inspection, packing and shipping. Some products, like bulbs and lighting kits, are sold as made by their manufacturer.
Why do MWCustoms custom headlights take several weeks to complete?
Because every part is built to order, and good paint work can't be rushed.
When your order comes in, we source the base parts, open them up if needed, sand and prep every surface, mask the lenses and edges by hand, spray base and clear, and then let the finish cure before anyone handles it. After that it gets reassembled, sealed, inspected and packed. On top of that, some parts depend on supplier stock, and we're working through every other order in the shop.
We could ship faster by cutting prep or cure time, but that's how finishes peel or let moisture in, and we won't put our name on that. Our current estimate for most custom-painted products is 10–16 weeks, and every product page shows its own estimate before you buy.
What happens if my order takes longer than expected?
Reach out. Email support@mwcustoms.net or reply to your order email with your order number, and we'll give you a real status update on where your parts are. We'd much rather you ask than sit and wonder.
We also want to be upfront about the policy so there are no surprises. Lead times are estimates, not guaranteed dates. Under our policy, an order running past its estimate doesn't automatically qualify for cancellation or a refund to your card. Cancellations requested within 24 hours may be refunded if work hasn't started; after that, approved cancellations are issued as store credit.
Does MWCustoms offer a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our work with a limited warranty on products and services performed or installed by MWCustoms. It covers moisture leaks, paint defects and failure of components we installed.
So you know exactly what to expect, here's what it doesn't cover: normal wear and tear, improper installation, accidents, abuse or neglect, LED failures on customer-supplied products, and labor for removal and reinstallation. To make a claim, you ship the part to us for inspection, and if the claim is approved, we pay to ship it back to you. Read the full warranty policy.
How does MWCustoms inspect its products?
Every custom-painted part gets checked more than once before it leaves the shop. We inspect surfaces after prep, before any paint goes on. We check color and finish after the clear coat cures. After reassembly and sealing, we check fit, and lights are powered on and tested where applicable. Then everything is packed to protect the finish in transit.
If something still isn't right when it arrives, email support@mwcustoms.net with your order number and clear photos, and we'll look at it under our warranty.
Can I contact MWCustoms before placing an order?
Yes, please do, especially for anything custom. Call the shop at (316) 925-7145, email sales@mwcustoms.net before you order, or support@mwcustoms.net about an existing order. We aim to reply within 1–2 business days.
To get the right parts the first time, send your year, make, model, trim and a photo of the paint sticker in your door jamb. We'll help you confirm fitment and color before you spend a dime. Getting that right up front is the best way to avoid delays later.
Have questions before you order?
Custom automotive lighting and color-matched components are an investment. Our team can help you understand available options, production expectations, and product-specific warranty coverage before purchasing.
